Physical challenges: my fuel

Hey there 👋

So, you’ve probably seen a lot of my posts and pictures, and maybe you’ve noticed a thing or two about me lately. I’ve been running and generally trying to be a less-couch-potato-y version of myself. And let me tell you, it’s not always easy.

I still have no idea why it took me so long to figure out that being a lazy blob wasn’t doing me any favors. I used to dream of being a pro athlete, but the academic life blew it away.

Then there was a time I thought that the whole ‘healthy lifestyle’ thing was a full-time job. Like you had to become a gym rat, eat nothing but kale, and give up all your guilty pleasures. And, let’s be real, I love me some guilty pleasures (hello, pizza and Netflix). But I’ve learned that it’s all about baby steps. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being better than you were yesterday.

So, I started small. I went for a walk every morning. Then, I decided to try running. At first, it was a lot of huffing and puffing, and a lot of “why am I doing this to myself?” but then, something crazy happened. I started to enjoy it. I even signed up for a 3k fun run just a few days after my wisdom tooth removal 🏃‍♀️. Perhaps charitable competitions serve as a catalyst for leading a healthier lifestyle, physically, mentally, and even spiritually.

And let’s not forget the food. I’m still a big fan of junk food, but I’ve also discovered that cooking healthy meals can be surprisingly fun and delicious. It’s all about balance, right? A little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a whole lot of not beating yourself up for having a cookie or two. 🍪

I’m not an expert, and I’m definitely not a super-fit guru. I’m just a regular person trying to figure things out and share my journey with you all. So, if you’ve been thinking about making a change, don’t wait. Start small, be kind to yourself, and remember that every step counts.

And for goodness’ sake, have a nice day! 😊
