My Master’s Defense

NCT Mark’s iconic line, “Uh, and that’s a long ass ride” from “The 7th Sense” (2016), perfectly reflects the journey of a Master’s degree.

The path was indeed long and challenging, filled with numerous ups and downs, but ultimately rewarding in ways I couldn’t have anticipated.

I don’t know what to write here except my biggest thank-you note for all the support I was entitled to throughout this tiring stage in my life.

Oh, below is some of the pictures on the D-day:

Tuan came early, yet he had to leave right before my presentation due to his packed schedule, so Vuong edited a photo of Tuan’s face after all.

My auntie came very early, even before I arrived at the campus. She had to wait for me for a while, following me to the venue, encouraging me to stay calm and do my best, giving me some gifts, and then leaving because of her business. I was tumbling from place to place as I was too absent-minded, so I didn’t remember to take a photo with her. I hope to have our picture at my graduation ceremony.

Along the journey, I received a lot of assistance from my professors, supervisors, friends, colleagues, students, and family. I’m so happy to have met them in person in the last steps of this arduous trip to attain more knowledge.

My auntie, Ms. Hue, Ms. Phuong, and some of my friends managed to come to see me no matter how busy they were, and I really appreciate that ^^

I still remember right after I was praying to my paternal grandpa for my early graduation, the announcement for our D-day came. Though I couldn’t see my paternal grandparents in person, they’re always beside me on such special occasions. And I guess my maternal grandparents want to see me holding a PhD degree soon, so I’m on my way toward that goal despite my folly. I hope my research will come in handy, not something written on paper.
