VietTESOL International Conference 2022

For the first time in my life, I’ve been given an opportunity to be a presenter at an academic conference. Everything was like a dream as I’d never expected such a 24-year-old childish high school kid like me could be granted this marvelous trip.

I thought my submitted proposal was just hit or miss. But “one start, one wish”, so why not? I tried sending my proposal and got accepted. Yayyy.

There were a few funny stories during the trip. Whilst being in Prof. Vo Dai Quang’s class, I was considering if I should submit my abstract. Then I texted Ha, my fellow “coworker” when it comes to research, asking her to join. Ha was still in Singapore but supposed to come back to Hanoi later on.

But this isn’t the hilarious part of my story.

I got to visit some of the tourist destinations in Nha Trang in the morning but had to attend an online class at my home university in the afternoon. The thing was we got lost and couldn’t make it before our class began. So I had to “check in” while being on the street with a helmet on my head 🤡 What a pity for a full-time novice researcher but a part-time traveler.

Again, solo flight, and the weather seemed not so nice
My trip in brief (there’re a lot more but I just picked something looking much easier to see)

Maybe my main purpose to be in Nha Trang was to go sightseeing, not presenting. Anyway, I’ve learned much from the insightful and inspirational presentations from other speakers.

Moving onto our one-day thrilling trip, we were both excited to try the zipline, but when this one came, our excitement totally disappeared:

This is the agreement, declaring that we wouldn’t complain if there was anything wrong

After signing, we just hoped and prayed. Thankfully, everything was fine =)) *touchwood* And even though I didn’t come to join the lucky draw event, I was so lucky to receive a board game for young learners of English from RELO Vietnam. In short, the trip to Nha Trang was like a blessing for me as I’ve been given a lot of invaluable lessons and presents, which I feel so grateful for.

A few days in Nha Trang went too fast. I hadn’t expected anything, but I was deeply impressed by the atmosphere, the locals’ attitude (and their voice), the food, and the weather here. I hope to come back to this city soon.

Bye~~~

Goodbye Nha Trang, and Hanoi welcomed me with tons of deadlines =)))
