This is my quick review right after creating a simple quiz on this website:
ESL Video is a cloud-based service for teachers and students to work on English lessons, listening activities and online conversation classes. This website is one of pedagogical tools that allow teachers to design English exercises based on videos. Moreover, for users who are students, they can get access to the exercises created by their teachers via QR codes, which seems to be quite convenient and time-saving.
On the one hand, there are some notable strengths of this tool. It is obvious that the user interface of ESL Video is deemed friendly, with classified data based on levels of proficiency and everyday topics. It is very simple to create a listening quiz, especially with thorough instruction provided. Besides, this platform is also handy for managing class online with Class Code, which is another useful feature of ESL Video.
On the other hand, it cannot be denied that ESL Video has no drawbacks. Since it is a website with user-generated content, not every quiz is useful and adaptable at all. Additionally, the question type is limited to multiple choice only with up to 3 options. Furthermore, teachers cannot edit the videos because they are directly embedded from Youtube to this website.
As a teacher of English with high appreciation of information technology, I think it is important to make the most use of ESL Video as a versatile instrument to better my class activities with the services it provides, particularly creating listening quizzes.
