Higashimuki Shopping Street

I had no idea why I was that into this street.

Listening to this long piece of music, I suddenly reminisce about the shophouse of an old lady somewhere around Higashimuki Shopping Street. She was roughly 80, I guess. And her store was full of beautifully made traditional crafts, which represented much of Japanese culture. I was most impressed by Daruma heads as they looked ugly and aggressive, yet still cute to some extent.

We wandered around the shophouse, trying in vain to decide which one to buy. What a pity when there was something way too expensive, and for the affordable ones, they were nowhere different from those I could find in other souvenir shops. However, the old lady was calm and patient, especially when she tried to tell us the price of each and every item we asked, just by hitting the number buttons on an old calculator. It seemed to me that she lived there alone. I somewhat imagine my life when I get old 😂

What a shame I couldn’t have a photo of the shop or her address T.T

But at least I had this picture of Higashimuki Shopping Street =))

I hope to have the chance to come back there one day.

The two girls walking together were my companions on this trip.
